Cincinnati Wedding Photography – Tuesday Tips – Gather Your Details!

Cincinnati Wedding Photography – Tuesday Tips – Gather Your Details!

#TuesdayTips: For your Cincinnati wedding photography, have all your details ready for pictures at the start of your day!

Every wedding photographer is going to approach things differently of course, so I’m only speaking to the way I work. I like to shoot all of the bride’s details the second I arrive on your wedding day. So I always ask my brides to gather anything that could be considered a ‘detail’, and collect them together in a place I can easily find when I arrive. Wedding days can be a bit hectic, so if I’m able to show up and immediately start shooting while you’re getting your hair and make up done, it can help the process move along quickly. The alternative of course, is having to leave your make-up or hair, and run around the room gathering and looking for everything.

What constitutes a ‘detail’ is going to be different for everyone. The obvious ones are your dress, jewelry, shoes, flowers… but this can also be your something borrowed, something blue, vows you’ve written each other, gifts to your bridesmaids, an invitation, a save the date, etc.

When we work on building your itinerary together, I always ask brides to set aside the first 30 minutes of my day for details. I will also shoot many of these things once they are on you of course. 🙂 But prior to that, I love to capture a beautifully staged shot of each as well. The best time to do this is really in the very beginning of your day.

So prior to the wedding day, think about what details are important to you to have pictures of, and whether it be yourself, a mom, a sister, or a bridesmaid, have someone assigned to gather all of these things in one location. This will not only help move things along smoothly on the beginning of your wedding day, but also ensure images are captured of all the details you would like to remember.
